I started with recent artwork, and a sketch from a photo of me taken in Washington D.C.

This is an unusual drawing, for both the drawing and the drawing that the artist is pointing to were drawn from photos taken on our trip in June 2007 to Washington D.C. However, those photos were changed quite a bit!

This photo inspired the drawing of the 'red hat' lady. The drawing began as only black line drawing, but as I looked at it, I saw her in the red hat and purple dress of Jenny Joseph's poem.

The next day, I was following web links to an artist who presents the beauty of aging. Afterwards, I wanted to have a try at drawing from a photo of myself:

Somehow, I look a great deal older in my drawing, though. This may be what I look like when I'm sixty nine, instead of forty nine. I suspect, with or without a red hat (likely it will be basic tan Tilley!), I will age defiantly and joyously.
