After twenty one years of living in Arizona, I at last got to see the Grand Canyon. Before seeing the Canyon, we visited the Kaibob Forest on the way to Williams, Arizona. The rough bark of the old growth trees has a mildly sweet fragrance which both Julia and I tested.

The Photo Friday theme is ROUGH, hence I have a ready contender for 'rough', as the bark from the Ponderosa pines we saw in Williams and Flagstaff certain is ROUGH:

But what amuses me as I look at the rough bark photo is there's a ROUGH image of a very Set-like donkey in it:


The donkey is one of the animals associated with the Egyptian god Set

Yes, we are 'pattern seeking animals', as the skeptics love to remind us. But part of that 'pattern seeking' is what enables us to give meaning to life. At the very least, this characteristic can amuse us.
