October 22, 2004 (Arrival of Rune Set)
I got the book by 'Edred' out and Winton's booklet and compared the interpretation. Edred gives mystical meanings, whereas she gives advice. There was room in her small booklet to add the key points Edred gives. Sometimes she gives a clearer view and sometimes he gives a clearer view. Sensing I need to 'personalize' these by embuing them with my energy so they know me, I first placed each inside my mouth to get some spit on them. That wasn't too messy. Then I got the 'brilliant' idea of getting intimate with them them by putting them in my nose. Yeah, I know, 'brilliant', hah! I'd arranged them previously on the table in the order Edred explains them. So I followed that order. By the time I'd gotten to the fourth one, it got stuck in my nose! It was panic time! Visions of me breathing it and getting it stuck haunted me. I took a deep breath (from my mouth), and tried to calmly dislodge it. I knew I was done with that trick! Once I'd dislodged it, and after reading the interpretation for that one, however, I think I've done my first rune reading!
Anzus looks like an 'F' with down tilting arms. It means inspiration for a new path, a perfect first day rune selection, as learning the runes is a new path. Another online web source gives to Anzus 'the power of words', which fits well as the rune words have power within their symbolic possibilities. Anzus also symbolizes 'container/contained'. My nose became the container and the rune the item contained! The Mystery is having a sense of humor with me! (Note of February 16, 2005) Recently, I explored the concept of XEPER as expressed in Runes, and the results are here.)
