My new piece is now available in an art print! I ordered an 8x10 which I think might be cool on my wall at work. (Naturally, I am my own best customer!) To me, "Life Surges Forth" represents union of order and chaos. The delineated area which is like a thumbprint (green thumb!) to me is embrace of Nuit, and the life surging forth represents Set's power surging forth. The stars are the Akhs, the 'glowing effective spirits' that we can become when we turn our minds and wills towards Xeper. No, it's not very Kemetic in appearance. The ancients might not have understood right away its meaning. But I like to think of what would happen should the ancient Priesthood of Set find themselves in this time now. First off, images come to me of them getting wildly amused by flush toilets, "What Heka! I turn the lever and the poop is gone!" And then to the radio, trying to imagine how the KA and BA of the musicians got in the small box. Our world would be full of wonder for them. And I like to think as they study our philosophers, they would embrace Jung, Nietzsche and Gurdjieff. Maybe even certain passages of Crowley. And of course, the modern Priesthood of Set. They wouldn't reject modernity to stay only in the past. Of course, I can only imagine what they'd really do. But as Set represents change, modernity, 'the foreign', I like to think the ancient Priesthood would embrace all these things of modernity. (HEKA=magic)
