A visit from me in the future, a me twenty years older, and twenty years wiser:
That is what this weeks '52 Figments' is. As I woke up thinking about it, I envisioned this gray haired me kindly smiling at me and saying:
"So you suspect what you might become and do?
Then plug away, plug away,
'seize the day',
don't waste a minute!"
But that was before I looked at the poser, and saw the emphasis is on the question I ask now, rather than the answer to be heard from the future...
"Imagine having a conversation with yourself 20 years from now. What question would you want to ask?"
I think I like hearing the answer better...
Otherwise, it is all the gaping confusion...
What should I do? How should I do it? What should I NOT do?
What is a distraction, a waste of time?
But this fits, this so fits where I'm at. I was just studying the various names and titles of Set. Some one had posed to those of us on the Shemsu Set list, "What is the meaning of Set's name?". Of course, I pull out info from some of my books. I came up on an odd one:
I wondered, "WHY is Set called "God of Confusion?" (And why is it so bad the ancients didn't want to 'confirm' this?) How is that? And here it is revealing it self to me. Don Webb, in "The Seven Faces of Darkness" calls Set by one of his names, "Set-Heh, the god of the void called the future..."(page 24)
The future is dark by virtue of its being UNKNOWN. All around it is the gaping confusion:
What should I do? How should I do it? What should I NOT do?
What is a distraction, a waste of time?
So MANY questions! My imaginary future self can't answer THESE questions! So basically, I'm getting the idea, "Are you confused? Of course you are!"
One question of mine has just been answered!
And maybe what came to me earlier IS just the right answer for ALL my many questions:
"So you suspect what you might become and do?
Then plug away, plug away,
'seize the day',
don't waste a minute!"
