Despair Is No Solution
August 3, 2004

I sought some advice from Deep Self after reading this:

"Hundreds of thousands of Scottish seabirds have failed to breed this summer in a wildlife catastrophe which is being linked by scientists directly to global warming."

Despair Is No Solution

Ah so is it now,
despair is the passing phase?
Do you think that is wise?
What will you do with that despair?
Will you wrap it up in soft cloths
and stuff it down your throat,
choking?
Is that the answer?
Are your arms too weak to care?
Is the task too great?
say it is,
and it may,
but no try,
why?
What have you got to lose?
Everywhere, the species are dying,
and you are standing there
limp wristed, moaning you can do nothing?

What will that avail?
Is it a waste of energy to try?
How do you know you won't do any good?
Everywhere, the species are dying,
and you just slump your shoulders,
sigh and maybe cry.
What is there noble in that?
So enough of the despair.
You think you could find answers
better than that.
What if the rare alignment sets forth a saving trigger?
You don't know.
You are casting about sad faced,
hands in pocket.
Stop it now!

Despair is no solution.

So I saw this website where each click helps save the rainforest:

And I joined Nature Conservancy. It's a little bit, but it's action, instead of despair. Perhaps I can do more.
