"Flashy"
8:25pm

"Holidailies 2005"

Again, I will 'cheat' on the day's entry by just having an image. I looked up at the image of the Set with the bad hair, and I could 'feel' him saying, "You could make this picture so much better!" 'Better' of course would mean more dramatic and flashy:

"A King of a Movie"
6:40pm

"Holidailies 2005"

I was at the beginning of trying to give an old article a much needed rewrite, and found my sinuses beginning to hurt at the effort. There was nothing to do but to close all the browser windows, go wash and get dressed. It was time to go out and have fun. Having heard from many people that King Kong is good, Julia and I made our way to the busy mall. But there weren't so many people in the theater, they were all doing last minute shopping.

Yes, the movie is long. I wouldn't say too long, even though I had to make two dashes out to the bathroom. It is marvelous filmmaking. Somehow they recreated the 1933 Manhattan world, with a soft edged look to it, as if in an old movie. I thought they used a real gorilla for King Kong, except make him look twenty five feet tall. But I was surprised to learn that Andy Serkis, who played the Gollum in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trio, also played King Kong.

The jungle world is quite fantastic. Not just King Kong is big, but every critter is big, including some ghasty giant toothy earthworm critters who find one of the crew members a tasty delight.

But, hey, the leading man and lady survive, if quite a few others don't:

Naomi Watts and Adrian Brody

"Seasonal Beauty"
4:42pm

"Holidailies 2005"

The little snowman atop a personalized bell was one of my Christmas gifts. I think of the Christmas song:

Frosty the Snowman
Knew the sun was hot that day
So he said let's run
And we'll have some fun
Now before I melt away...

Oh, Frosty is even more sensitive to the sun than I am! His 'skin' is even more white than mine, as well. His 'skin' is even more white than that of the painted Geisha girls we saw in today's movie, Memoirs of a Geisha. The floating worlds of such artistic beauty by which they formed their lives, combined with their hidden secrets, such a story it made! And the contrast of much cruelty amidst the beauty, at least the narrator found happiness at the end.

Afterwards, we went for a short walk down Main street. While walking in Old Town, I captured some of the seasonal deco in the windows:

Santa seems waiting for someone to come and get him and his special gift.

I wish you 'JOY' on this day!

"Tidy House?"
9:34pm

"Holidailies 2005"

I went link wandering and ended up at one of those funky tests. I'd seen the 'Draw a pig' test awhile back, now this one is Draw a House. What the heck, I couldn't resist. I preserved my results:

not quite my best medium!

I can't say the results of this 'personality test' are exactly accurate:

Based on your drawing and the 10 answers you gave this is a summary of your personality: You are sensitive and indecisive at times. You are a freedom lover and a strong person. You will avoid being alone and seek the company of others whenever possible. You love excitement and create it wherever you go. You are very tidy person. There's nothing wrong with that because you're pretty popular among friends.

You will avoid being alone and seek the company of others whenever possible. You love excitement and create it wherever you go. You have a strong personality and you like to command, influence and control people.

You added a flower into your drawing. The flower signifies that you long for love. It also safe to say that others don't see you as a flirt. You are self-confident and happy with your life.

I don't avoid 'being alone', sometimes it is the best thing. I'm not sure I 'create excitement', nor am I 'commanding'. And I'm sure not 'tidy'. The pile of clutter that is on the table behind me at the moment, someday soon I'll get around to putting stuff away. Although, I do try to be 'tidy' at least in these here web house pages of mine. I've spent a good bit of time adding to and creating new galleries today. I added the recent Christmas pics to the Christmas in Yuma page. I added two recent drawings to my main art gallery, the shyly pensive young man, and the Flashy Set. Not only that, as I went through my image archives, I realized quite a bit of my art has been influenced by the movies, so I set up a gallery for that.

There's still a bunch of old files I need to move over to another location and other upkeep, but I've done a fair amount of work today on 'homepage' straightening. Maybe even I'll take the first layer of mess off the table, as well.

"WAS NOT WAS"
8:25pm

"Holidailies 2005"

Ah, I share another weirdness from the mind of Joan:

As you probably already know, I create these things letting my subconscious mind dictate the movement of the pen, and color choices. "WAS NOT WAS" had Julia puzzled. As best as I can gather, it is related to the Set figure watching outside her window. The 'was' scepter conveys power to the bearer, and its head represents Set's head, as well as the forked bottom representing his forked tail. Perhaps this woman is at a crossroads, a choice to be made, either 'was' or not 'was'.

If you find another interpretation more pleasing, then take that one. Either way, I like this drawing for some reason.
