The time went quickly yesterday morning. I looked at the clock in disbelief. Yet despite the late beginning towards work readyness, I did take time to unlock the house door and go back in for the camera. It's not every day I see two colorful balloons floating over head: Friday, November 11, 2005 A
"With Anticipation"
6:04am
All along my work route, I saw them floating. At one point, they came close enough to the earth I could see the flames from their baskets. The two pilots are doing this to draw attention to the 15th annual Colorado River Crossing Balloon Festival next weekend. (Julia and I went to the 12th festival, pics here.)
With anticipation of the three day weekend, the work mood was happy. The worst of our busy season is behind us now. I'd sort of let dust, pins and fabric scraps accumulate in a jumble, not wanting to take time away from sewing to tackle it. So I was glad to clean off the very messy cutting table.
I wanted to do something different in the evening, so we went to Blockbluster's for videos. Of course, we've seen the best ones in the theater, but there were a few that seemed worth a try. I wouldn't say the Family Guy Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story is 'pee myself funny' as advertised, but it was good for a few laughs. I do like that Stewie:
However, the new Hitchhiker's movie is positively irritating. I thought that of the older version, as well. I gave up on that, and let Julia watch it by herself. She was curious enough to watch it, but similarily unimpressed. The book makes much better entertainment, she says. One more DVD awaits, Robots.

The last of the birthday cake is gone. It was GOOD! The last of the halloween candy is gone. It was good. And now the lovely long weekend awaits.
A Happy Veteran's Day to all you veterans out there!
This week's Friday Illo theme is Strength. I had a lot of fun with this one. The first element was the muscular arms and torso of the man, complete with the heart. The strong heart is necessary in all endeavors. Yes, the physical heart is important, but I was thinking of the passion and long desire that sees accomplishment through. Next, I just drew as my subconscious dictated, and the ice skating pair evolved. The strength and skill it takes to perform their feats amaze me. Friday, November 11, 2005 B
"Strength"
9:51pm
It is interesting that I felt moved to put three horizontal lines on the wall. I felt perhaps it would mean something in I Ching. Indeed it does, for its name is "Force". Perhaps the question is there for in a test of strength, the outcome isn't always certain. There must also be grace under pressure which gives the strength to do well in a performance.
I've had a most productive day so far. I did four loads of wash, and in between runs to the laundry, updated my Automatic Drawing Gallery. I noticed the load time was l-o-n-g, even with DSL, so I broke it up into two galleries. I think they are arranged better, now, as well. Saturday, November 12, 2005 A
"Nervously Hopeful"
3:00pm
Next, I made the initial moves to obtain Giclée art prints of some of my artwork. If the initial samples prove suitable, I hope to open an online art store. However, the process seems quite complicated. Anyway, it is the beginning of possibly achieving a dream of mine.
So I am nervously hopeful about that.
Meanwhile, oh sheer delight, I still have lots of weekend left!
Right after making today's earlier short posting, I got ready to go to a movie. Zathura was great fun, a delightful adventure. Julia liked it, too. It made her think of when she was a kid. Like the siblings in Zathura, she fought with her brother, as well. There were a lot of kids watching the movie. My 'inner child' was there, as well. I think it is the best way to keep young, to be on first name basis with my young Self: Saturday, November 12, 2005 B
"Fun to Me"
11:37pm
"Let's play!" That's my inner child's motto. As we stood in line at Fry's, getting eggs, and other items, I noticed a gossip magazine's headline, "How the stars fight aging" Oh, yes, Madonna looks fabulous at forty seven. No droop and pooch on her. But is she on first name basis with her Inner Child? Does she let him come out and play? Or is she too busy fighting the droop and pooch?
Let's Play!
I don't really care, one way or the other. I don't really care if Gwen Stefani copied her style, either. They're both good singers, but if I had to pick only one, I'd probably pick Gwen.
Meanwhile, after snacking a bit, I decided to pull up one of my old black and white line drawings and color it. Because, ya know, it seemed like fun to me:
Good night!

'Tastier' 'Food for Thought'
Before we left for a short walk in Smucker's Park, I thought to take photos of Julia at her make up. I thought I could sketch from them. Yes, I know it's cheating. Sunday, November 13, 2005
"Julia With A Mirror"
12:11pm
I was surprised that on a cool morning, there weren't more people out walking. Only one plump, middle aged man passed us up. A skinny blond woman singing badly to her Ipod music would have easily, had she been going in our direction. I enjoyed the fresh air immensely.
I was curious about the layout of the park, and took a look at the view from Google Earth. It's not a perfect O shape as I'd thought:

There's an upgrade to the Earth program. While I waited for it to download, I perused the Fall 2005 KMT issue. There's something about the 1938 photo of George Reisner, director of the Harvard/MFA excavations at the Giza Plateau (1902-1947), that intrigued me:Forward...
Really, his mouth doesn't look as bad as all that. Conversely, I could blame it on that pipe smoking, but... It just makes you really want to have me go at your features via my pen, doesn't it? I get a few willing victims, though. Julia is one: ![]()
Julia wanted me to try and aim the camera so I got her reflection in the mirror, so I did: ![]()
I probably should have put away yesterday's laundry before I took the picture. I think that nightgown hanging on the lamp is dry by now! ![]()
