"Restaurant Scene"
2:00am
As I was looking through recent pictures, hoping to find something to fit the 'BOY' theme for Photo Friday, I found a restaurant scene from Coronado resort's Maya Grill to salvage:

I like the view out the window of the arches...
(I found a picture of boys excited about CAKE to fit the challenge theme.)

"Uxoxu"
10:36pm

Uxoxu, the 'peasant king'
One of those spontaneous drawings, this odd fellow is wearing a crown and an ermine collar, but has a peasant shirt on underneath. What can it mean? What does his imploring gesture mean? Julia thought he has a rather wolf like face and a paw like hand.

"The Illusionist"

We saw The Illusionist this afternoon. It was excellent. I enjoyed the scenery, all of it filmed in the Czech Republic. I liked the build up of mystery. Call me 'Slow witted', as one commenter did at IMDB, but I found the ending a surprise. (Really, I think some are 'jaded'.) I'd like to see it again. It's not often I feel inspired to draw the characters, but I did this time.
I was thirsty when we left the theater, and saw a sign for 'Junga Juice'. We walked all the way down the block, useless, for it was junga juiceless. On the way back we passed an empty storefront where presumably, the shop will be some day. I was feeling faint, and Julia complained of vertigo. Frustrated, we drank water while grocery shopping. But now we have treats: huge bag of Milano cookies and raspberry rugala, also a big bag of walnuts and more semisweet dark chocolate chips. Oh yeah, we got healthy things like several bags of vegetables, bread and some fish, too.
Earlier, to kill time before the movie started, we dashed into Dillards. Julia had to walk fast to keep up with me. It was worthwhile, for I got a turquoise silk blouse, much like one I had in my twenties. It was only fifteen bucks, including a dark chocolate and raspberry candy bar we split during the movie.
It's been a good day.

"Side by Side"
8:16pm

Horus and Set, side by side but not eye to eye
The hieroglyphs are supposed to say "Horus true of vision, Set great of strength"
I must admit I was influenced more than a little by Jenniology's Duality. I hope to color it soon.

"Side by Side, Colored"
11:20pm

Horus and Set
(They look like they're ready to have a duel, bringing a different kind of duality, duelity?. Ready to start pacing the agreed upon number of steps, I can imagine Set taunting Horus, "You know I really am much better with this 'was weapon' than you!" This infuriates Horus, who after pacing and facing, then tries to send a lightning bolt towards Set. The electric jolt surges through him instead. He quickly pulls down the scepter for he realizes he's been tricked. While use of the 'was scepter' allows him to throw lightning bolts at anyone else, it will only backfire if he tries to use it against the One whose electrical power energizes it. Horus yells back, "We'll try again, with a DIFFERENT weapon!" Set just laughs.
