"It Could Be"

I'd have written sooner, only this week has not progressed exactly as I thought it would. I had in mind a lovely entry, but events haven't transpired to make that entry possible. Such an entry could still be possible, but I am weary of waiting.

Basically, after an interview and a piss test, Julia is 'waiting to hear' on a very temporary (three weeks only) job. She thought she'd had it secured, as they did photocopy her IDs and have her do her W2s. Of course, the delay may all have to do with the difficulties involved in testing the urine.

So we're endeavoring to be patient. My work, after being ridiculously slow for over two weeks, has now gotten rather busy. Unfortunately, this is the time when one of my fellow seamstresses is on vacation. Her return is sure to be appreciated.

But we're hanging in there. Diversions there are, and we do take advantage of them. I found an interesting test in webland, What's The ANIMAL In You?. Truly, I thought I'd be a cute and cuddly poodle. But it seems they're telling me I'm a porcupine. Am I REALLY that prickly?

''Who, ME?''

It could be. Meanwhile, in that Norrathian world, in which I am a Dark Elf Enchanter, I've progressed to level 26!

"The Wait Is Too Long"

''I have dreamt you into beauty.'' This was whispered into my 'ear' a couple of days ago, while at work. Strange missive, it didn't go anywhere. Perhaps some day, the rest will follow.

Wanting a poem isn't the same as getting a poem,. Ah, yes, the damnable EXPECTATION factor. I must ignore its jabblings of offended pride, ''I haven't had a poem in SO long . . . Sniffle, sniffle.'' For wounded pride will get me nothing.

Appropo, then, the quote I found from my Writer's list today:

''Inspiration is wonderful when it happens, but the writer must develop an approach for the rest of the time... The wait is simply too long.''

--Leonard S. Bernstein

No, it isn't THAT Leonard Bernstein. It's Leonard S. Bernstein, a writer, instructor who taught the list moderater while at Hofstra. ''He opened my eyes to a world beyond my own keyboard,'' Barbara Bretton affirmed.

The wait is simply too long. Indeed! So I must seek that different approach. Speaking of ANOTHER 'WAITY MATTER', Julia is STILL waiting to hear about her temporary job.

I simply do not do well at patience, yet evidently fate is trying to teach me it.

"Might Know Truth"

A few more lines came yesterday:

I have dreamt you into beauty
So that you might know truth.
Redeemed by love,
so are we all.

It seems to refer to my Elven tale, as the two main characters are 'redeemed by love'. So I shall place it there, in hopes some day some nice illustration will accompany it.

I had the strangest dream last night. Aren't they all? Anyway, I awoke from being back in Joliet, town of my birth. I was in either an antique shop or a jewelry shop. Maybe it was a pawn shop. Anyway, one of the glass covered boxes featured various rings on display. One of them I recognized as Gramma's garnet and opal ring which my Father had given her. I was shocked. Had the ring been stolen? I approached the shop dealer and said, ''I don't mean to blame you, someone may have sold this to you, but that's my Gramma's ring you've got in that box, there!''

In real life, this would not have worked, probably. In dream life, it did, and I was soon holding the ring. However, as I studied it, one of the opal pieces was damaged and partially missing. Before I awoke, I felt puzzled and bad. It would not be a perfect remembrance of her.

What could the dream signify? Could it mean I no longer have the 'perfect remembrance' of her? I see her human flaws, and it casts some imperfection into what I'd wanted to remember as idyllic and perfect? She loved me, but being of a harsh, unforgiving religion, she would not approve of where my mind has travelled. Would that love turn sour on discovery of this? Like Chloe in my story, was I the hidden 'Dark Elf' growing up? Had my true colors been known, what THEN would my childhood been like? The thought scares me. Demon-spawn, I could have been regarded as. I don't want to think of such things. I don't want my 'perfect remembrance' disturbed.

And yet, sometimes we have no choice.

Ah, a break for a diversion is good. Yesterday when Kaaldar and Spelldoc were high up in the Aviak bird city, Laura shouted to me, ''Stay still, I want to take a screen shot of this!'' I did, and then she said ''Come here and see this!''

I walked over to the computer to find an odd sight. Kaaldar, under influence of his 'levitate' spell, so that he would not fall off the ledges of the bird city, floated a few feet above the ground. Unbeknownst to him, he stood exactly in front of one of the birds. It appeared as though the bird was embracing him! No true love there, as the bird would later fall under their attacks. But still, the sight of Kaaldar with the bird's arms around him is cute!

NOT 'true love' in bird land!

"Nu Shooz"

Baby's got new shoes!

New gleaming shoes, and bracers . . .

A friend of Anton's character was retiring his cleric, so we got a good deal on shoes, bracers, and a tunic. The 'Boots of the Reliant' have Armor Class +11 and Save Disease +6. The 'Bracers of the Reverant' for the forearms each add Armor Class +9 and Wisdom +5. Trublu's happy!

Now, in that real material touch and feel world, I haven't acquired anything that fantastic. I am simply happy with a new inexpensive summer blouse. There was a rack of seersucker shorts at the Super K. They had not sold all summer, but all the matching blouses except one did. The one that was left was rather large. But for only seven bucks, I was willing to alter it. After shortening the shoulders and taking in the sides, I'll be cool in my sleeveless red and white striped seersucker blouse. Not much addition to 'Armor Class' or anything magical, but cool comfort will do! Laura, too, is happy with her new black swimsuit. She looks much trimmer in it, having lost fifty pounds. That is no small accomplishment!

In addition, we are having fun with some new EQ characters, who promise to tear up Norrath royally. Bonevivant and Vivantbona are two Dark Elf necromancers who are proud of their greedy bloodthirstiness.

Bonevivant wants to suck your blood . . .

Heh, heh! Only if you get in his way, of course.
