The Friday Illo theme this week is Blanket. I've waxed philosophical for this one, taking the idea of a 'security blanket', and what allows us to rest well at night. resilience clean conscience pride in the day's accomplishments confidence With these, we rest well at night.
The dictionary defines 'resilience' as:
1 : the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress Without the clean conscience that comes from knowing we've acted to a consciously chosen set of ethics, sleep might well be disturbed. With pride in the day's accomplishments, we know we've done the best we can for that day, and that brings a secure satisfaction. The dictionary gives "a feeling or consciousness of one's powers" as the primary definition for 'confidence. With this, we can rely on our ability to respond well in any situation, and thus we can go to sleep without troubling worry. |
