The following command
was obeyed by the Jews and later,
adopted by the Christians, and later still by Islam. Monotheists
were reknown for their desecration and destruction of the altars
and temples of Pagans. These unrelenting attacks on other
religions are recorded over and over in the Old Testament,
bragged upon as worthy deeds, rather than confessed as the
heinous acts of a maniacal people bound and determined to destroy
all those who refused to bow knee to their god, Yahweh. During the reign of Theodosius, a Christian emperor, not only were the sacred artifacts of Pagans destroyed but the followers of these religions were mistreated, abused, exiled, and often murdered. The loss of manuscripts, wisdom, sculpture, art, and sacred objects, was incalculable. Deuteronomy 12:1 + These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Pagan religions were a primary force in the life and culture of the Neolithic, quite likely reaching far back into the Paleolithic as well. Goddess religions can not, as archaeologists influenced by Judaism, Christianity, and Mohammedanism have done, be dismissed as nothing more than fertility cults. Not only is such dismissal inaccurate and reflective of religious dogma, it reveals a predominantly masculine fear of sexuality. In the Pagan Universe the Goddess was fully developed and she represented a more rational first cause, Creatrix of the universe, Mother of ALL Deities, and of all living things, particularly favoring humans who were created in her own image. She offered life after death, forgiveness, and meaning to life. Woman and gender variants were the predominant authorities in Pagan religions, and spirituality was intertwined with sexuality. In the developing patriarchal religions sexuality was an embarrassment and sinful, and rape, murder, and mayhem became the spiritual arm of their god. Violence, hatred, aggression were the methods employed to dominate and eradicate Pagan religions. Women priestesses and male priestesses, considered sacred and holy in their own religions, were dubbed temple prostitutes, harlots, and abominations. The voice of women has been silenced in Judaism, Christianity, and Mohammedanism, and gender variants, feared, and hated ever since the new religions cropped up. We, the present day Metro'on, are not calling for a return to Pagansim, but in discovering our past, our heritage, women and gender variants can reclaim their voice. Quite honestly, the world needs us. Men, operating under the misguided principles of dominance have created a world which, even with the wonders of technology, is eating itself alive. Never have women and gender variants been needed more, never has the wisdom, intuition, and intelligence inherent in the dismissed half of humanity been needed more to come forward, to speak out in a loud voice, to scream, "No more!" It is past time that social responsibility, the interrelationship of all living things, and our obligation to care and provide for the earth prevail over the concept of domination of the earth. So long as we view the earth, other living things, and other human beings as things to be dominated, rather than as sacred creatures to be embraced, we will continue to destroy the earth and ourselves. It is time for all people, men, women, gender variants, all races, all nationalities, all religious persuasions, to put away our differences and create a new spirituality, not a religion, a spirituality recognizing that, as we became stronger joining together to form nations, we will become stronger still when joining together to create one world. Not that there wasn't plenty of in-fighting between these religions as well. Everyone knows of the sins of the Catholic Popes, the Inquisition, the Crusades, but read what Martin Luther, the founder of the Protestantism and the Lutheran Religion had to say about Jews. "What then shall we Christians do with this damned rejected race of Jews? First, their synagogues or churches should be set on fire ... secondly, their homes should likewise be broken down and destroyed ... They ought to be put under one roof or in a stable like gypsies. Thirdly, they should be deprived of their prayer books and Talmud in which such idolatry, lies, cursing. and blasphemy are taught. Fourthly, their rabbis must be forbidden under threat of death to teach any more ... Fifthly, passport and travelling privileges should be absolutely forbidden to Jews ... Sixthly, they ought to be stopped from usury. All their cash and valuables of silver and gold should be taken from them and put aside for safe keeping. Seventhly, the young and the strong Jews and Jewesses should be given the flail, the axe, the hoe, the spade, the distaff, and spindle, and let them earn their bread by the sweat of their noses as is enjoined upon Adam's children ..." Pat Robertson, in more current times, also takes a dim view of Jews. "The New Testament reveals that Jews both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and they persecute us, and they please not God, and are contrary to all men," announces Robertson. History records the terrible suffering the Jews have experienced due to their continued persecution by Christians. From our not so distant past we had a President, Ronald Reagan, who apparently was hoping for and expecting a nuclear confrontation with Russia. It is frightening to think that this man held the highest office in this land. "Everything is falling into place. It can't be too long now. Ezekiel says that fire and brimstone will be rained upon the enemies of god's people. That must mean they'll (Russia) be destroyed by nuclear weapons ... Gog, the nation that will lead all of the other powers of darkness against Israel, will come out of the north ... Gog, must be Russia ... now that Russia has set itself against god ... it fits the description of Gog perfectly." As a nation we become concerned when religious fanatics become leaders in Moslem nations. We need to be concerned with the dangers we face from men and women who bring to their offices their religious agenda. Little has changed over the centuries. Religion and science are at war and they will remain at war until one or the other is beaten down. No longer can we afford mistakes, a few religious fanatics holding office could devastate our nation plunging us into a second dark ages.
