Seb laughed softly, and then distracted her by licking her neck. It tickled so wonderfully and it made her forget her question. Seb had a way of doing that, she felt so often easily distracted, it almost made her dizzy. He continued licking her neck, and then she felt a painful piercing. ''OW!'' She couldn't keep silent for that moment. And then she laid quietly, not wanting to attract any attention to her bedroom door.
She found herself growing drowsy, but she'd remembered the silly vampire roleplaying games they'd played. ''You want to play 'vampire', huh?'' she whispered. But she found herself willingly submitting. He remained for some time at her neck. ''Do I taste good?'' She asked. ''Oh yes, luscious, simply luscious,'' and he blushed as he answered. ''Will I get to taste YOU?'' He laughed quietly and breathily, ''Oh, I've left a few bits of my own inside you!''
Sonya's eyes widened, ''How did you do THAT?'' Seb smiled, ''Oh, I have my ways.'' And then he returned to licking and kissing her. She felt strangely tingly all over, wondered if this was an effect he caused, and rubbed at her sore neck. Seb kissed the sore spot. ''My little vampire!'' she laughed, her eyes glowing with a bit of wildness.
She didn't know he'd left just enough of his blood bits to create a longing within her. It might not be a longing she understood on any verbal level, but it would be enough to make her thrash at night occasionally with an itchy discontent. That longing would only cease once he'd fully transformed her.
During the day, after she awoke around noon, Sonya found herself puzzled by the occasional way her eyes were stung by the bright sunlight. She found herself not wanting to spend any time in the sun, seeking the shadows. Her skin reddened much too easily. But she didn't think about these things in much depth. She was supposed to begin college now that it was August, but she found herself little interested. All she wanted to do was spend time with Sebastian.
She found herself growing pouty when he left each early morning. Although her parents had been oblivious to all else, her pouty irritableness was noticed. ''How come you're so snappish of late?'' She could not really think of an answer, and merely apologized. She'd try to behave more civilly, she promised them.
If she'd been in possession of her senses more, she might be more alarmed. But Sebastian had this completely disarming way about him, he always put any worries to rest. Still, she found herself hungering after him in a wild way she didn't understand. ''I don't know what it is. I must have you. I must have you in a way I can't explain. Or is it that YOU must have me? I don't understand . . .''
He kissed her, trying to ease her frustrated torment. ''When will you turn eighteen,'' he whispered. But this didn't satisfy Sonya, ''Three months away. It seems forever. Must you make me wait until then? I am in such torment. I don't understand what you've done to me!'' Seb remained so gently soothing, any alarm that she'd had about it disappeared. ''It won't be long,'' he kissed her so tenderly, and she eased off to sleep.
She dutifully attended her classes when they began, but she paid no attention to the teachers. Her mind wandered, very easily distracted. Maybe it was only so much as the redness of a fellow student's scarf, maybe it was a clanging outside the classroom, when a weight on the cord from the country's flag clanged against the pole which held it high, maybe it was an odd smell coming from a nearby student. ''What is that hideously stinky thing in his lunch box?''
She couldn't tell. How she longed for Sebastian's arrival. He alone could make her miseries feel right. Without him, she felt adrift in an odd and alien world. She tossed her books on her desk each night, never touching her homework. She played her few favorite Celtic music CDs to ease her mind until the magic night hour when she'd see her favorite red haired man come through her window. She could go into a trance with Loreena McKennitt
Then once Sebastian arrived, they'd kiss furiously. Actually, the fury came from her. He was always gentle. But she'd bite at him, and not understand why. His firm perfect skin resisted her teeth, though. Night after night, day after day, it went like this. She wondered why she felt so hungry, but never found anything at supper to appeal to her, or in the refrigerator.
November came, with its cold nights, and a quiet excitement now filled Sonya's days. Sebastian had promised something to her. She didn't know what it was, she never examined it that closely. She only knew on a non-verbal level, her world would finally feel right to her.
The day of her eighteenth birthday, her parents had a small party for her. They'd have invited any school friends had she had any, but since junior high, she'd been dreadfully unpopular. So only an aunt and a couple of her cousins attended. She enjoyed the festivities, and her presents. She really loved the large amethyst pendant she received from her mother, and her new watch from her father. And the old fashioned writing paper for handwritten letters was so sweet, as well as the bath toiletries. It was not difficult to smile with excitement over each, even though a silent underlying cause was the true reason.
Still, her family was glad to see her so happy. They'd worried about her. Happy hugs were exchanged, and her relatives went home, and she went upstairs. The sky was beginning to grow dark. Dependably, Sebastian arrived, and she mauled him with kisses as soon as he got through the window.
He grinned at her wickedly, and they pounced on the bed together. She felt that searing bite she'd felt once before, but she kept so quiet. Oh, she kept so quiet. Her thoughts drifted off leisurely as he siphoned her blood into himself. So leisurely, as she felt happily vacant. She felt happily weightless, and then she floated away into unconsciousness, so easily.
When she found herself drifting back into awareness, she whispered huskily, ''YES! THAT's what I want! Give it to me! YES!'' Sebastian was oh so obliging.
