Sunkissed Shiva

The Photo Friday theme this week is 'Best of 2006'. I had trouble narrowing them down to just one. I did select eight, which please me for various reasons. To help, I asked Julia's opinion, and she narrowed in on both the 'sun dappled path' and the 'sun kissed Shiva', but leaned more strongly to the Shiva. I do, too, having placed it into my Essential Joan. So 'Sun Kissed Shiva' is the winner! (I'd also chosen it for the Photo Friday 'Light' theme.)

I love this Shiva, dancing the dance of creation and destruction, in the process destroying ignorance and forgetfulness. To destroy forgetfulness suggests the strengthening of Self remembrance, as when Gurdjieff encourages us to "Remember Yourself."

Ah, but this picture has had a secret cropped from it:

Sunkissed Shiva dances on
ignorance, forgetfulness,
and thick gray dust.
She who forgot to dust
takes picture anyway.
