Kids would be home soon
August 19, 2006

Not having drawn anything for a while, I grabbed a book off the shelf to serve as board under my paper. After an initial unsatisfactory doodle, I noticed the cover of this book, Eros in Pompeii. I decided to draw the back side:

Okay it wasn't their 'backside', but lots of 'front side'...

She has a wary look in her eyes, not able to enjoy the mellow moment, for "She knew the kids would be home soon." (Oh, yes, if you're curious, the original is a 'marble bas relief' from the mid-1st century C.E., from Pompeii.) I see Laura scanned the pic. I don't know about Laura's caption. The lady looks wary to me in the bas relief, as well. Not much relief for her, I guess.
